While hiking, you will be delighted by the peaceful atmosphere and the unexpected removal from the hustle and bustle of LA. Birdsong and the calls of the numerous wild and tame creatures alike that dwell on the ranch can be heard throughout the hike, and you will breathe in the incredibly fresh, smog-free air that only nature can provide.
Throughout the trek, you will smell the beautiful flowers that bloom throughout the property and the woodsy smell of the strong oak trees that many species of mammals, reptiles, and birds call home. While walking through the ranch portion of the property, you may see our happy four-legged residents, such as our horses, llamas, alpacas, donkeys, goats, and sheep!
As you venture through the vast grapevines that provide our delicious wine, a tour guide will educate you about our varietals, our winemaking process, and the history and love that comes from a family-owned wine company, allowing for a deeper connection with the wine that you will enjoy. The tour includes hiking through the grapevines, picture opportunities at our famous photo-op, “The Frame,” introductions to our adorable and hilarious animal friends (if the hike takes place before sunset), viewing and education regarding our Chumash Native American cave paintings, a mid-way beverage tasting, hiking through both wild and manicured areas of the ranch, silly conversations with tour guides, and much more, ending with a wine-filled send-off!
Check-in will always occur at the check-in cabin at 32111 Mulholland Hwy, Malibu, CA. The check-in cabin is found down the wooden steps in the parking lot. Tours end in the same parking lot where you park your car. Available restrooms are in the parking lot in white, flushing portable toilets.
Tours begin on the hour or the half-hour and end approximately two hours later.
No pets allowed.
If you are planning on attending with a group, please be sure to book together under one reservation. If you are booked under separate reservations, there are no guarantees that you will be on the same hike.
Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your tour time to allow for unexpected traffic and the time it takes to check-in.

Save the earth and hydrate at the same time! Don’t forget your reusable water bottle. Extra thirsty? We’ll make a stop for filtered water halfway through the hike and provide water.
Bring sunscreen and other sun protection, especially during hikes on a hot, sunny day, as you will be exposed to the sun for the majority of the tour.
Also, don’t hesitate to bring a smile and a positive attitude 🙂
The hike covers about 2 miles in total, so make sure you have your walking shoes on. The duration of the tour will take 1.5-2 hours.
We would classify the hike as easy to moderate with about 300 feet of elevation gain and loss. You’ll definitely work up a little sweat and will need appropriate footwear, such as tennis shoes or hiking boots. We call it Malibu Wine HIKES for a reason.
For those looking for less hiking while still exploring the ranch, the 4×4 vineyard tour allows you to see more of the ranch with less walking. For those who want to explore beyond the ranch, the Volkswagen wine tasting bus tour allows you taste more in wine country with less activity.
For the hike, we recommend wearing clothes you would be comfortable doing a light workout in. Make sure you have proper footwear such as tennis shoes or hiking boots.
We allow guests of all ages on the Wine Hike Tour. We do not offer discounts for guests under 21.
Unfortunately, because of the rocky, uneven terrain, we cannot allow either wagons or strollers. Slings or child carriers are allowed.
